How or Better Why did Free taxi get Started you may Ask?
The founders Mother died from her injuries received in an accident caused by a Drunk Driver.
We have been asked are we funded by the City or State the answer is NO!
The only funds we receive are the TIPS from our riders. All drivers contribute to the upkeep on the taxis they drive. Basically they pay to work for free!
The company started in October 2007 with just one taxi, and business has grown so much in a short time that four more cars have been added totaling 5, and plans to add more as the busy summer approaches. The service area includes Ocean City, Ocean Pines, West Ocean City and Fenwick Island.
This can’t be legal, can it?
It can, and it is.
The company has all the proper licenses and all the vehicles have been inspected by the police department and a MD inspection station like every other taxi in town.
Starting in 2010 Ocean City forced all Taxicabs to Buy Medallions at a price of $1500.00 for each cab and also pay a yearly renewal fee of $500.00 for each cab on top of the yearly inspection fee of $150.00 we pay for each cab.

My name is Norman Mullinix.
My mother died from her injuries caused by a drunk driver, I was with her as her
passenger when the drunk driver hit a street light and knocked it across the
road in front of us. At the same time an 18 wheeler was comming in the opposite
direction this was on a 2 lane road all she could do was hit the pole.
After a few weeks she became sick she said she had the flu, as I know now it was
her internal injuries.
She passed away after 3 months and 3 surgeries.
I started this taxi company - Free Taxi Just Tip the Driver. In her memory.
We are located in worcester county maryland.
And mainly operate in Ocean City Maryland.
We offer Free rides going to and from bars in ocean city and surrounding areas.
People are welcome to tip the drivers.
